Shawl Weaving Artisan - Winding and Warping
Perform the setting of a warper drum
Objectives : At the end of this exercise you shall be able to
• set up and operate a warper drum correctly according to given specifications such as yarn count, number
of ends, warp length, reed width, and other parameters.
Requirements
Tools/Equipment’s/Instruments
• Warping machine with drum • Calculator
• Yarn cones/bobbins of specified count • Tensioning device
• Creel stand • Job sheet or work order
• Measuring tape
PROCEDURE
Step 1: Understand the work order / job sheet Trainee task: Perform and fill all calculations.
Trainees must first understand the required parameters: Step 3: Creel preparation
Example To be filled • Mount correct number of cones in the creel.

given work order. checked and functional
Step 2: Calculate section and creel settings Step 4: Set warper drum parameters
Help trainees calculate Trainees will:
• Ends per section = Total ends / Number of sections • Set yarn tension
• Cones per section = Ends per section • Adjust drum speed
• Creel capacity check • Set drum length using counter/setting knob
